Formerly The Mountain Men and Julie, BEARGRASS was formed in 2000 when Alane Watkins joined the band. Shayne and his parents Delvin and Julie Watkins had played together since 1979 and when Alane joined the band and later married Shayne, the name was changed to BEARGRASS. In 2009 they were joined by Doug Park on the upright bass.
Shayne and Alane released their second CD Three Chords and a Capo in 2007 and have another in the works. Beargrass is extremely versatile. They do acoustic sets for the listening crowds and coffee shops but for pure dancing fun, Caleb and Julie add the drums and bass to bring the two-stepping, country swing tunes to life.
